Terrence Higgins Bridge To 2030 Garden

This year, we were delighted to supply specialised handrails for a garden at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show. The Terrence Higgins Trust: Bridge to 2030 Garden was created by award-winning designer Matthew Childs to celebrate how far humanity has come since the 1980s in the fight against HIV.

Every aspect of the garden was carefully curated, and the handrails were no exception.  Providing a secure handrail solution was important for accessibility and comfort for those enjoying the garden. The bespoke handrail created with a weathered, rustic finish.

We supplied a ball-standard handrail system that was not only an aesthetic fit for the garden, but an important safety measure. Comprised of self-colour steel, known for its high tensile strength, the handrail solution provided stability and security to viewers, while at the same time separating the pathway area from the plants and flowers. While enjoying the beauty of the garden is important to the project, Kite Group recognises that ultimately the safety of its visitors is paramount.

Kite Packaging

Kite Packaging (no relation to us) are the leading supplier of UK packaging, and as such have a bustling warehouse in need of safety solutions. Their Coventry warehouse opened in 2022 and was a large part of the business expansion, increasing their capacity to 380,000 square feet. The larger space and increased workload can raise the chances of accidents happening – this is where we came in.

Kite Group supplied items from our cutting-edge Flexible Protection System to the new warehouse in order to safeguard employees. Products in this line are designed to absorb and deflect the force of impact, protecting workers, products, vehicles and the warehouse itself.

Firstly, Pedestrian Safety barriers were supplied, as we recognise that worker safety is the paramount concern. These Techno polymer safety barriers help to separate walkway areas from vehicular traffic areas, protecting workers in two ways. Their highly visible colour helps to guide forklift or pallet drivers away from the area in question, while their REFLEX material structure is designed to absorb the force of impact at a far superior rate than their metal counterparts.

Bollards and Guard Rails were also supplied to further protect the warehouse from potential collisions and other hazards. Our Flexible Protection System was the right fit for Kite Packaging and we were delighted to give the company the measures they need to foreground safety in their company culture.

The Forth Bridge

The Forth Rail Bridge is one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks, as well as a UNESCO Heritage Site. It is famous worldwide, from its iconic and recognisable design to phrases such as “painting the Forth Bridge”, meaning a never-ending task. This spawned from the rumour that painting it took so long that the repainting would have to commence straight away. This was not strictly true, however there was a permanent maintenance crew until as recent as 2011.

This maintenance team use under deck walkways running to nearly 10km which were installed in the 1980s. Kite Group were privileged to help refurbish these essential walkways and supply our  Moulded GRP Grating as a replacement. These flooring panels are constructed from Glass Reinforced Plastic, a strong and versatile material with numerous benefits.

The advantages most pertinent to the Forth Bridge were the anti-slip properties and superior corrosion resistance, necessary in the climate of sea spray, and the fact that GRP is 75% lighter than metal, decreasing the load carried by the entire structure.

We pride ourselves on going over and above for our customers, so Technical Support was also provided in delivering the products to specialised locations.
