For another year, Kite Group have taken the lead in developments in the safety industry. From keeping on top of our sustainability pledges to taking on great new projects, Kite have continued to build a legacy that will set up for a great year in 2024. Read on to see how Kite defined 2023.
Work at Height
2023 saw a surge in sales of Freestanding Roof Edge Protection, as much of the construction industry began to discover the benefits of the system.
With no need for drilling or welding, the system is highly modular and designed to protect the natural architectural elements of the buildings they are installed upon.
As well as these design advantages, the reduced steel usage and lack of welding significantly reduce the carbon footprint of installation. Freestanding Roof Edge Protection is a permanent, secure and modular solution to provide safety at height.
Environmental Achievements
A huge trend in the safety industry in 2023 was sustainability, an area Kite Group is passionate about. Kite stayed ahead of the curve by continuing to monitor our carbon data, promote green products and champion continuous improvement on the long goal to carbon neutrality.
Through partnership with Planet Mark, Kite Group protect an acre of rainforest in Central Peru, directly supporting the native Asháninka community and surrounding endangered wildlife.
Quality Service Achievements
As well as keeping on top of pledges to the environment, Kite Group remained committed to providing an excellent service to our customers.
Kite’s strong customer focus has been recognised by Constructionline, who have awarded Gold accreditation to Kite’s processes. We appreciate our customers’ time and aim to show this through our technical support, visits to site, quick turnaround of quotations and round-the-clock responses through our website. Kite Group placed customers at the heart of our business in 2023 and will continue this provision into 2024.
Site Visits
Kite were pleased to see our products in action on some of our projects.
Milton Keynes is the site of three Amazon facilities: a fulfilment centre in Ridgemont, an imaging studio at the Crownhill Business Centre, and the expansive Amazon Magna Park warehouse, which spans over 51,000 square meters, equivalent to more than seven and a half football fields. Kite was proud to supply Amazon with one of our Flexible Protection Systems, known as the PED 150 LINK Safety Barriers.
Amazon specifically requested a non-standard height of 3087mm to ensure the safety of their staff working around stacked pallets. Our Pedestrian Safety Barrier, the PED LINK 150/1, emerged as the optimal solution to meet the mandated safety standards.
This barrier not only complies with safety requirements but also incorporates base plates designed for tall barriers, delivering additional ground reinforcement to enhance support and strength. It is ideal for areas where future additions of corners could be possible, and where it’s necessary to handle heavy loads.
The Dunfermline Wastewater Treatment Works, located in North Queensferry, Scotland, is a crucial facility responsible for treating wastewater in Fife.
Kite took pride in contributing to Dunfermline's safety initiative by providing Tubular Handrails and Walkway Systems, which encompassed Tubes, Tubular Sticks, Stair Treads, and Open Mesh Flooring.
These guardrail systems were installed around the sludge tanks and walkways in the chemical treatment area, ensuring the safety of both engineers and visitors by preventing falls.
Overall, 2023 was another successful year for Kite Group to consolidate their position as a leading supplier to the Construction and Facility Management Industry. We are looking forward to another prosperous and innovative year in 2024.
